We are meant to live free and full lives, and I am passionate about how creativity and holistic wellness can help us on our journey towards freedom. I have witnessed the inspiring, positive changes that are possible through experiences with art, music, movement, nature, meditation, and mindfulness in my work with a wide range of clients and the population closest to my heart, children and adolescents. I believe creativity helps us connect with and care for our whole self—physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually—and anyone can benefit from the option of art therapy, no previous art experience or skills needed! If you are open to learning how art can guide the process of self-discovery, growth, and healing, we can work together to create a meaningful experience for you or your child.
In my counseling practice, I also seek to create a peaceful and safe environment of trust through honesty and authenticity. I believe in focusing on your strengths and providing encouragement without judgment. By coming alongside my clients, I empower you to take ownership of your mindset and choices—if you can envision a fulfilling, connected, and joyful life, then you can create it.
I completed my Master's degree is in Counseling and Art Therapy at Ursuline College in Cleveland, Ohio, and my Bachelor's degree in Art Education at Miami University. My diverse experiences with children and adolescents have inspired my practice; for ten years, I taught elementary school students art in the Ohio public schools and eight of those years I was the head coach of a high school girls' field hockey team. It was rewarding to help my students and athletes believe in themselves and have fun as they achieved goals that once seemed impossible. I have practiced Counseling and Art Therapy in schools, residential and outpatient centers, and domestic violence shelters. I use strength-based and person-centered approaches with clients and have experience with a wide range of concerns including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, identity, personal growth, self-esteem, relationship and career issues, loss and grief, trauma, anger, impulsivity, communication skills, behavioral issues, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and life stressors and adjustments.
Virginia Beach is a special place, and I am thankful for the opportunity to join this amazing community. I enjoy traveling, playing sports, running, being in nature, creating artwork, volunteering, and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to getting to know you and your child and the exciting growth that is ahead!
